Website terms of use
These terms govern your use of the website of CARGO EXPRESS (PTY) LTD. By using the website, you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the website.
1. Purpose of the website
The website presents the services of Cargo Express and allows you to request a quotation, contact us and follow shipments registered by Cargo Express. It is intended mainly for businesses.
2. Information on the website
The information on this website is general. It does not constitute an offer, professional advice or a guarantee that a service is available for a particular route or type of goods. We take care to keep it accurate and up to date but may change it at any time.
Information about laws, customs procedures, documents and conventions is given for guidance only and may change. Always check the requirements applicable to your shipment.
3. Quote requests
A request sent through the website is an invitation to provide a quotation. It does not bind you or Cargo Express. A contract is concluded only when a written quotation has been accepted, and it is governed by the quotation and the trading conditions referred to in it.
You must provide accurate and complete information, in particular about the nature, value, weight and dimensions of the goods and about any dangerous goods. Inaccurate information may change the price, delay the shipment or prevent it.
4. Online tracking
The tracking service shows the status and the movements of a shipment as recorded by Cargo Express staff. It is provided for information. Estimated dates are indicative; movements are recorded when they are confirmed and may appear with a delay.
You may only search for shipments that concern you, using the tracking number provided to you. Attempting to guess, generate or collect tracking numbers is prohibited.
5. Acceptable use
You must not:
- access or attempt to access any part of the website, any data or any account without authorisation, in particular the administration area;
- interfere with the operation or security of the website, or use automated tools to extract data or send requests;
- submit false, unlawful, offensive or harmful content through the forms;
- use the website in breach of any law.
Unauthorised access to, interception of or interference with data or computer systems may constitute an offence under the Cybercrimes Act 19 of 2020. We may block access and report such conduct to the competent authorities.
6. Availability and liability for the website
We aim to keep the website available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. To the extent permitted by law, Cargo Express is not liable for loss resulting from the use of, or the inability to use, the website or the information on it. This does not limit any liability that cannot be excluded by law, including under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 where it applies.
7. Liability for goods in transport
Liability for loss of, damage to or delay of goods is governed by the quotation and trading conditions agreed for each shipment and by the international conventions and laws that apply to the mode of transport. For example, for international carriage by air, the Montreal Convention of 1999 limits the carrier’s liability for cargo to 26 Special Drawing Rights (SDR) per kilogram since 28 December 2024; for carriage by sea, the Hague-Visby Rules limit it to 666.67 SDR per package or unit, or 2 SDR per kilogram of gross weight, whichever is higher. These limits are often lower than the value of the goods: we recommend cargo insurance for valuable shipments.

The website may contain links to other websites. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.

The content of the website is protected. You may view and print pages for your own use. Any other reproduction or use requires our written permission.
10. Personal information
The processing of personal information is described in our privacy policy and our cookie policy.
11. Applicable law
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa. Subject to any mandatory rule to the contrary, the South African courts have jurisdiction.
12. Changes
We may change these terms. The version that applies is the one published on the website when you use it.
